Avoid the Overwhelm
I’m going to say something a little controversial - it’s okay to take a break from researching the airway and myofunctional arenas.
I am seeing more and more people learning about these things, which I love! I love that people are seeking out information about tongue ties, feeding, airway issues, all of it. At the same time, I see people feeling really judged, condemned, and like their kids are a ticking time bomb, they’ve failed at helping them…when that is the last way I want you to be feeling.
Just your being aware of what is going on with your kids is huge.
Yes, there are going to be dynamics that families have to figure out, forming new habits, learning new skills, addressing tough issues. But if this quest is really increasing your stress, your tension in your life…take a breath, you have the permission.
Stop learning for a little bit. If you’re feeling overwhelmed and inadequate you are not going to be able to make the positive changes you want to for your family.
I want you to feel loved and supported, not condemned. Take that break you need, and then come back when you can do so with balance, with a sense of humor, and with the realization that it’s not all going to be perfect, and that the imperfections don't make the journey any less beautiful.
